I am a teacher and am crazy about children's picture books! Some of my co-workers in Auburn (Allyson) thought I was nuts for having so many picture books and using them to teach 6th graders. She thought I was destined to teach 2nd grade when I told her I was moving to Birmingham. Well I only moved down one grade level and still absolutely love my picture books. So do the kids (even the 6th graders...they may have acted too cool, but I could tell they were trying really hard to not look interested).Naturally, I hope Will develops a love for children's books like I have. He had accummulated quite a collection of hardback books that did not fit on his bookshelf. I want his room to be filled with books. I came across this precious magazine rack from Pottery Barn Kids the other night and convinced John that Will's room really needed it!! And it did. It looks perfect under his wall ledge and now it displays all of my favorite and soon to be Will's favorite picture books. Plus it is right by the glider which made it very easy last night for me to make my selection and read to Will. Some of these I bought while taking a Children's Lit course in college, others I have bought with Scholastic bonus points, and the latest additions came from some gift certificates that I received this past week at our school book fair. I cannot wait for Will to be big enough to go and pick his favorite book off the shelf and climb up in my lap!
And yes, Amy, that is Walter the Farting Dog (hysterical for those of you that have never read it) right there on the bottom shelf!!

Bill built those exact shelves for Ryan and we too love them. It is so nice to have all of her books displayed! It looks great.

I love it-- and I think we need one! I'm going to look and see if I can find a place for one in Trent's room right now:)
