IT'S BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Can we talk? 90210 is back on television tonight at 7 for a whole 2 hours. This is an incredibly big deal for those of us that never missed Dylan and Kelly when it was on the first go around. I am obsessed with this show. Probably a little too much. 90210 started in 1990. I did not get start watching it until 1993 when my brother was a senior in high school (he was the same age as the kids that went to West Beverly High-how cool is that? The year they graduated from high school, he graduated from high school too). That would have put me in the 4th grade. I remember sneaking down to watch the show with my brother when I was really not supposed to be watching it (clearly the content was not quite appropriate for a 4th grader). Nevertheless, I LOVED it. I was in love with Dylan (Luke Perry). I really think he was my first crush. This crush still really hasn't gone away. My brother bought me a huge poster of Dylan that I kept up in my room and even brought it with me to college where it hung proudly over my bed freshman year in Tutwiler. The SOAP network plays reruns of the original Beverly Hills 90210. When I found this out, I started tivo-ing (is that a verb?) the show. I watched it all summer. They aired the episodes in order, starting at the beginning, so about 2 weeks ago the series finale was on and I made John sit and watch it with me. He gets so annoyed that 90210 takes up so much space on our Tivo and cannot stand to watch it. But I made him watch the finale so he would somewhat understand my obsession. This show defined an era. It went off when I was a junior in high school and I can remember watching the whole last episode while simultaneously being on the phone with my best friend, Susie, and we would be silent until the commercials and then talk about all that had gone on in the previous 10 minutes, and then shut up again and just hold the phone on our ear and watch the next segment before the next round of commercials. To this day, I don't know why she just didn't come to my house so we could watch it together :) So, I think I have 1) proven what a total dork I am to be so obsessed with the original BH90210 and 2) show how incredibly excited I am about the new twist. I know I am probably getting my hopes up for a show that just won't quite compare to the original, but it gives me something good to watch on Tuesday nights! And some of the original cast members are back, including Kelly Taylor, my personal favorite. I am anxious to see if Dylan McKay is her husband on the show or how they spin what happened with their relationship at the end of the original....I mean, after all he is her lobster!!! ( wait, that's another show) :)

ok - 90210 was a weekly ritual for my friend catherine and i. we were also obsessed. we were just 1 year behind the kids at beverly high - graduated in 94. i'm excited about the new show, but i'm worried that it won't be as monumental. i do know that dylan is kelly's baby daddy, but they aren't married.
i'll be watching with you, brooke. we'll have to discuss tomorrow!!!

Okay Katie how do you know that.... I thougth it was a toss up between Brandon and Dylan being Kelly's Baby Daddy... Okay you'll make me feel real old as seeing in '90 I graduated high school so I was in college watching the show, I was not diehard enough to watch it through the last couple of seasons though. I have been watching the new show tonight and I think that they tried to hard to appeal to today's teenagers, but I'm sure that I will still watch it because I am just a tv junkie like that!!

OMGOSH brooke. i thought about you all night as i watched 90210!!! did you like the new one? honestly, i did so far... i wasn't a die-hard original 90210 watcher, b/c i, as well, was not allowed to watch it, so ive caught random re-runs over the years. i wish i remembered everything and knew all of the details/inner workings of the old show...but the things i do remember are fun... like Andrea's daughter doing the morning news? too funny. oh yeah... did i hear correctly that she said that Brandon is the baby's daddy and he's in another country???

Just finished watching the entire thing! (i'm so glad we finally got tivo!). where it is definitely nowhere near as good as the original, it wasn't half bad - made me want to keep watching! so, i guess that means it's good!
