Mickey's Rockin' Road Show

The weekend before Easter we took Will to the BJCC to see Mickey and his friends live on stage. We wondered if we had made a mistake spending money on tickets for this with Will still so young. We couldn't have been more wrong. When we walked in, there were several stands set up with all things Disney for you to buy. It brought back memories of me going to Disney on Ice and the circus and talking my dad into buying me a $15 snow cone for the "cool cup." We weren't going to buy Will anything. The closer we got to the stands, the bigger Will's eyes got. He was drawn to one particular thing...the spinning light things (for lack of a better word). His mouth was gaping open as he watched about 10 of these things spin at one time.John loved Will's reaction and couldn't resist buying Will a treat! So with our Mickey spinning light thing in tow, we headed toward our seats.
It was actually longer than I thought it would be (an hour and a half). When we got there and I saw this was how long it was set to last, I knew we were doomed. I could not imagine Will sitting still and paying attention for that long. Again, we were proved wrong. Before the show started he just played with his light-it took him no time to figure out that the button turned it on and that if it got too close to his face, it would hit him as it spun. The show started and he was frozen. He was watching so intently but with zero expression. It was like he was completely mesmerized. I think it really helped that our seats were so up close (we were on the 5th row)!!! He sat in my lap for the whole first 45 minutes without moving, other than turning his head to make sure he caught all the action. At intermission we got up and let him walk around. I felt like after he had been up and moving, he would lose the attention span once we had to sit again. Quite the opposite...he was much more into the show during the 2nd half. He was all into it and bouncing and clapping. It was cracking me and John up! He loved Buzz lightyear and Tigger when he bounced! I had more fun watching Will than watching the show on stage. He was so animated. He kept pointing to Mickey and his eyes would just twinkle.
This was the best shot I could get of Will clapping...it wasn't normal claps. It was the biggest claps I have ever seen. He was SO into it!!
It was definitely so well worth it and we will certainly take up another show of this sort when they come through Birmingham again!!
