Disney: Day 1

John and I had pretty much decided that we didn't want to go to Disney anymore after the drama we experienced with Will and the potty. I think I must have prayed for 2 hours lying in bed. Morning came and I told John to not say a word about it. I was curious to see what Will would do. John went to the bathroom, came out, and Will popped out of bed and declared he needed to use the potty. He waltzed right in there, peed, and flushed all by himself. I didn't know whether to shout for joy or strangle him :) I could not believe what was SUCH a big deal the night before turned into such a breeze that morning. We still did not think he would pee in the parks, but at least in the hotel was progress.
Will tore the last chain off of his countdown calendar and we were officially headed to Disney World! We stopped around noon to eat lunch at Moes. Will had not gone to the bathroom since 7am. He swore up and down that he did not need to go as we were leaving. We begged him, tried to coax him with a cookie....nothing worked! I could tell he needed to go. And I honestly did not think he would wet his pants. He proved to us at daycare that he could hold it for an incredibly long time. I just didn't want the drive to be miserable for him. Holly gave me the idea to try a water bottle. So after we got back on the road I asked Will if he would pee in a water bottle. He looked at me and said, "That's silly!! OK!!" We pulled off and he immediately went in the bottle. Thank goodness he is a boy!! He thought it was hysterical. John and I looked at each other like we had the weirdest kid on the planet and then just decided whatever worked this trip was fine by us! When we got to our hotel at Disney, he used the potty, but everywhere else (the parks) he would literally walk into a stall with me, pee in the water bottle, we would pour it in the potty, and then flush. WEIRD. STUBBORN. Then on the way home we stopped at a rest area and Will said he needed to go potty. I grabbed the water bottle and he said, "No Mommy, I need to go in the POTTY." Really??!! Why he couldn't go in the decently clean Disney bathrooms but would not hesitate to go in a below par rest area is beyond me. Okay, I promise that is the last you will hear about pee and potties!I love that there is such a big entrance to Disney. We had to wake Will up because I didn't want him to miss it! He was so excited that we were finally there, but more importantly that we would be getting out of the car soon!
Upon checking in, Will received his "First Visit" pin so that everyone would know that the little guy was a first timer :)We stayed at the All Star Movies resort. It is considered the "value" option, but I would highly recommend it! The rooms are very standard. Nothing fancy-a bed, tv, and bathroom. However, think about how much you are really in your room at Disney. We priced some of the other resorts and we could have gone twice for what we would have paid! Plus, we were in a Toy Story room so everything is decorated with the Toy Story theme in mind. A giant Buzz and Woody were just outside our room. Will thought it was awesome!! When he saw the car he took off running!Entrance to Andy's Room...

Once we were all checked in and settled into our room, we headed to Downtown Disney to enjoy the rest of the evening. We took Will to the biggest Disney Souvenir Store...it is gigantic! We told him he could pick out one thing to start our trip. Without giving him a price range, Will chose a sword that was a whopping $3.95. There were probably 4 sword choices and he chose the most basic, practical one! We were super pleased with his choice and he carried that sword all over Disney for the rest of our trip! It was a good choice if I do say so myself! I thought the Woody Mickey ears were precious and we wanted to buy him those too, but he wouldn't wear them!We explored Downtown Disney before heading to dinner. Will loved seeing all of the things made completely out of legos.

We ate at T-Rex. It is basically just like Rainforest Cafe, except with dinosaurs. Will was in complete awe the whole time we were there. The restaurant is filled with dinosaurs everywhere and about every 15 minutes a "meteor shower" and the dinosaurs come to life. It was super cool. And the food was great too!!The dessert was super fun-basically a dirt cup, but instead of gummy worms, they were gummy dinosaurs! :)
We made it back to the hotel to rest up for our big day planned in Animal Kingdom. It was then I realized that the wi-fi in our hotel was either super slow or simply not working, which killed my hopes of updating the blog each day. It was probably best anyways, seeing how when we drug ourselves in each night, I was so tired I don't know that I could have done it anyway.
