And We're Off....

We dropped Alex off at my parents house at 5:00 this evening and hit the road. We are now settled into our hotel room in Albany, Georgia with plans of waking up and driving the rest of the way to Disney. Once Alex was unloaded, we surprised Will with a surprise guest for the ride!It is my intent to blog each night so that I can remember the details from each day. I know that once I get back to life at home, it would take me forever to do a Disney post the way I would want to do it. I would have thought all of my posts this week would be light and fun, but at this very moment I am pleading for your prayers. Even if you aren't the praying type, please get on your knees for us. Will has a fear of peeing anywhere other than home, school, and church. Basically, he was using the bathroom at Newks about a month ago and while he was still on the toilet it flushed (very loudly) automatically and scared him to death. He now thinks all pottys that are not at home, school, or church flush loudly and refuses to use them. We wondered how this would play out on this trip. I guess we were just trying to be optimistic. He used the bathroom at 5:00 when we left and did not go again. We got to our hotel at 10:30 and he was screaming to go home (because he was scared to pee and it was stressing him out). We put him naked in the bathroom and for 20 minutes he screamed. He needed to go, but refused. I called my friend begging for advice and basically we decided that to salvage our trip, it might be necessary to just give him a pull up. Y'all he is stubborn as an ox. If he won't go at the Hampton Inn, I can't imagine him going at any of the parks....So after him yelling, we just caved, and put him in a pull up. He asked us if he could pee in it, we told him to go for it (our tone was completely frustrated, annoyed, and defeated) and he peed. You could see the stress melt from his face as soon as he peed in his pull up. I am so irritated but trying to just do what is best to not ruin our trip. I would covet your prayers for us this week with the potty. I have no idea what will happen. I guess we will just roll with whatever.
For now, we have a content little boy who is giggly with excitement over sleeping in a hotel room for the first time....

Brooke...do not stress out about this. You are doing the very best you can and using a pull up to keep him from being fearful and stressed was the best thing you could do :) You want the trip to be filled with happy memories for both you guys and him. The next time he will for sure be using the bathroom everywhere. This is just part of his journey and doesn't have anything to do with your job as a mommy. I know you already know all of this, but I wanted to give you encouragement and let you know we are praying for you guys! I hope you have a wonderful time in Disney!
