January birthdays are hard....especially for three year olds. They need to be entertained. Outside just isn't an option. Last year we took a chance on the weather with the train outside, and while it was still cold, we lucked out with a gorgeous day. Will wanted a bounce house this year and I was not about to put one outside and have a bunch of babies in the cold bouncing around. I am sure their parents would want to kill us after they came down with pneumonia or something...
My aunt and uncle have a unique space around to the back of their house. They had a garage built especially for a bus that they travel in. The ceilings are high which made it the perfect place to host Will's birthday party so that he could have a bounce house. He has been asking for a dinosaur party for the past few months so we looked online, came up with some ideas, and I think the party turned out super cute. I am under no illusion that a lot of the things I do for birthdays are necessary. I just love it!! I love finding perfect things online and creating a day especially for Will! The dinosaur theme was a pretty easy one! Decorating was pretty cheap since we have over 30 dinosaurs...I used them to decorate food and kids tables. Oriental trading had several cute things for the favor bags and they are also where I found the 4 feet tall inflatable T-Rex's. Those were Will's favorite!! A shout out to my mom for the amazing job she did on the "3" for our door. I envisioned the idea of a felt "1" to hang on my door the week of Will's first birthday party. Well, it has sort of become a tradition...and mom delivered on the "3" matching his birthday invite perfectly! Thank you to all of our family and friends who came out and made the day special. I always look back at the pictures I took and wish I would have taken more...I got no pics of the birthday boy with his grandparents or his cousins who drove all the way in from Macon just for the day (which made Will's day--he kept talking about D and Sissy coming to his party). I had good intentions but once the party starts, things get crazy and it is all over too quickly!! And yes...he wore the exact same outfit for his birthday and the day after for the party. I washed it in between....gotta get our money's worth out of the birthday shirt :)
