Weekend of Firsts

Will had several "firsts" this weekend. With the incredible weather we had to take advantage!! On Saturday afternoon we took Will to Jemison Park in Mountain Brook. John and I used to go here and run during the summers between college. There are 2 different trails-one that just winds through Mountain Brook and one that leads to Mountain Brook village. If John and I were feeling lazy, we would just run/walk to Mountain Brook village and stop at Gilchrist for a cherry limeade and walk back. It became a very fun tradition for us. So Saturday John and I took Will for a Cherry Limeade walk. He slept the whole time, except when we actually stopped to get the drink. He seems to really like riding in his stroller. He just doesn't like when you stop. He clearly was not enjoying the cherry limeade as much as we were :)

On Sunday morning he got to take a nap in our big bed. We have never put him in our bed, not wanting him to get used to it! He looked so small in the middle of our bed!
Then on Sunday we were feeling brave so we took him to lunch at Alladin's. You have probably heard me mention Alladin's before. It used to be located in Vestavia on Hwy 31 and served as our "high school hangout" before and after football, baseball games etc. It is now located in Wildwood. John and I ate there for lunch the day we had to be at the hospital to prepare for Will to come. So we decided to take him there for his first restaurant appearance. Plus it is a laid back restaurant so we knew it would be okay if he went into melt down mode. He did great and slept the whole time.

Sunday afternoon my sweet friend Ashley was passing through Birmingham on her way back to Auburn and stopped to take some pictures of Will. This was his first photo shoot :) She is wanting to start her own photography business once they move to Aliceville. She did an awesome job. I can't wait to see how they turned out! On Sunday night Will watched the Grammys and did a little dancing. He is a lot more alert now and can focus on me and John and other things he has started to notice around the room. It is really neat to see him turn his head when he hears me or John talking.

This long and exciting weekend wore little Will out! He was ready to go to bed at 8:30 (and he slept until 3:20 this morning...we were so proud!!)
