The Summer of Play Dates!

I am well aware that it is September 21...and that the title of this post is about summer play time. However, we had such an awesome summer spending time with so many special friends that I hate I didn't take time to document it when it actually occurred. So here is my attempt at a quick recap!

To kick  off the summer, Sara Kate and Shealy met us at the pool for a fun morning of swimming and snacks. Well, it was fun until I wanted to get a group picture. Just to note, Will is the oldest kid of the group and his behavior at the end of this pool visit was remarkably similar to the youngest kiddo in the group...
My first friend in Auburn loaded up her crew (3 kids), along with Shealy's sister and her crew (3 kids), to come for a visit. We decided to just hang at my house so we would have a better chance at visiting. With 3 adults and 10 kids that thought was comical...
We met some sweet friends at the zoo one very hot day. We ended up at the splash pad and I was quickly trying to get the boys into their swimsuits so they could cool off (and stop whining). I could not stop laughing once I realized what I had done. I have to admit that I didn't even notice my mistake until Will came over and stood right by Alex. I had put Alex's size 2T bathing suit on Will and Will's 4T bathing suit on Alex. It was hilarious. Will was totally rocking the frat-tastic look :)
I know this is hard to believe, but this is the BEST picture I could get of all the kiddos at the zoo. I love how Alex is looking at AC....
This picture might be one of my favorites of all time. The epitome of boys!! The Greenes met us up at our pool several late afternoons in the summer for swimming and pizza. My favorite late afternoons/evenings are spent at the pool. It wears the kids out, they eat well, and no dishes!
We met our sweet friend Cooper at Chick-fil-A for breakfast one rainy day just before summer was coming to a close. These boys were super cute coming down the slide 3 in a row :)
Lots of pool dates with the McClearys this summer. This was one of them....and probably the kids favorite because ice cream sandwiches were involved!
Our last "official" day of summer before school started back was a Friday trip to the zoo with our favorite girls! AC had wiggled out of this photo op before I caught her.
Looking back through these pictures makes me sad to see our summer go. The boys were such fun ages this summer and I know that I will love each stage, but I kind of get a pit in my stomach knowing that we will never spend another summer where Will is 4.5 and Alex is 2. They were easy to cart around in the heat and we had SO much fun. I am so blessed to have a taste of the stay-at-home mom life. I can without any doubt say that being a stay-at-home mom is hands down harder than my job during the school year. I love my job, but I sure do love lazy mornings watching cartoons, playing in the sprinkler, drive through milkshake dates, and nap time. Only 8 more months until our summer schedule resumes!
