Question for the Blogger Audience...

I need an opinion....

What color should we paint our kitchen??!!

I will save the whole bonus room story for another day...the short version is we have just hired someone to finish it-all that was left to do was the woodwork around window, and door, baseboards, and paint. John did a fabulous job hanging the sheet rock, mudding, and sanding. In fact the guys we hired asked John if a machine had done his mudding because it was so precise. I took that as a compliment to John that he did a great job (being his anal engineer self, I knew he would try to make it perfect). We simply ran out of time. John's summer class started yesterday and I was going to seriously lose it if the room wasn't finished. We found a GREAT guy through my parents. He is super nice and is going to be finished TOMORROW. I don't know what we will do with ourselves :) And the carpet will be installed next week! However, back to the kitchen. John has agreed for me to have him go ahead and paint our bathroom and our kitchen since it is on our wish list but we know we will never get around to it (or once we did, it would take a month)-we just don't have time for stuff like that right now! We'd rather be playing :) I am painting our bathroom a chocolate brown color. The kitchen is a bit trickier. You can see it from any room in the main part of the house. The color that is on most of the walls (foyer, den, bedrooms, and kitchen) is a beige-khaki kind of color. The dining room (to the left of the kitchen) is more of a slate grayish khaki color. I know that doesn't help very much. I have been thinking of doing like a mustard yellow kind of color, however I don't want it to clash with the 2 rooms that are right beside it. Then I thought about a green.....Please give me your opinion!! I have to pick it out tomorrow!!

We have a lot of beige in our house and I wanted some color in our dining room and kitchen. We went with Eddie Bauer colors. Dahlia (a yellow for the kitchen) and Bayleaf (a green) for dining room. They both seem to go well with our beige. Maybe one would with yours too! Oh! and Lowes carries them.

Our kitchen is green and I love it, so that would be my vote! I feel like it looks good with most colors. So fun redecorating!!

ohhh! so fun! do something fun and bold. i'd be careful with green...it is a killer to get the right shade (or maybe that was me wanting a "baby green"). what about one of the colors in that awesome painting above your mantle??

I am kind of with Shealy - if you go green be SURE it's the color you want first. There are some really nice "sage" shades that look pretty in kitchens, but they can get really bright and yellowish if you aren't careful. We used the color "ryegrass" which is a sherwin williams paint and we love it in Turner's room. Just my opinion here - but I am not a fan of yellow with khaki and gray as nearby shades... What about a red? I know that's awful bold...and John might kill me with all the AU/BAMA tension in your house...but our house is pretty much a mixture of red, black, white, khaki, and gray....and we love it. :) Just a thought...will be excited to see!

I like the yellow idea; but I also have three yellow rooms in my house. Our living room is gold, bathroom is sunshine yellow and our kitchen is dusty yellow. I was weary of the color at first, but it looks awesome with our cabinets and appliances. If you have white appliances I would not rec yellow, they may wash each other out. I do love red in kitchens, but once again you have to be careful not to be too too too bold. We have yellow walls, white cabinets, stainless steel appliances, and red accents. Oh lord I am babbling. Just know I say no to green. We too fell victim to the too green color in our old office.

Brooke,
I am trying to create a slide show for my pics. Well I created the slide show but for some reason I cannot get it to upload on my blog. Is there anything special I have to do? I thought I had everything set up to allow me to add an url. Can you help me?

I can't remember what colors are in your house, but I'm a sucker for blue kitchens...not blue blue, but more of a light grey blue...perfect color is Benjamin Moore Woodlawn Blue in the Historical collection...we have used it all over our house and on the porch! I also love the red we did in our dining room...it is called Red Oxide, also Benjamin Moore.
