What a perfect end to spring break-celebrating John's birthday and spending some family time on a beautiful Sunday.
This year I took Will shopping to pick out a present for daddy. I had already bought John a gift, so I thought it might be fun for Will to give him something that he picked out especially for him. I figured the Auburn store would be the best place to take him...Will could pick out anything and John was pretty much guaranteed to love it :) Will was careful in his decision-he weighed his options. There were lots of front runners-an Auburn beach towel, some crazy big Auburn slippers...I tried to be very careful to not express any opinion. I wanted it to be completely from Will. Thankfully Will has pretty cheap taste and the prints/expensive things did not interest him. He ended up selecting an Auburn golf ball (not a package of them....just 1 :) ) and an Auburn mini basketball hoop with ball (you know, the kind that you can attach to a door...). These gifts made me smile because I figured Will saw the balls and thought FUN but the entire time we were in there he kept saying "Daddy peasent" so he knew what we were after. John of course loved his gifts and has already mounted the basketball goal in Will's big boy room. I think his race car birthday card that told him he was on a fast track to fun made him feel pretty special too (also hand picked by Will).
We went to John's parents tonight for dinner. John joked that he felt really manly with a pink cake and his son wearing a pink shirt-but let's just be honest....there are few things better in life than Edgar's strawberry cake, AND Will is cute in anything!
