The Final Countdown
While catching up on my blog reading this morning while my kids run absolutely wild, just waiting for 9am when we go outside for "Panther Olympics" (Fun Fridays in May sounded like a good idea...), I couldn't help but notice that several of my teacher friends are counting the days down for school to be out. I totally feel it too! The days seem to drag on and 70 minutes to teach has never seemed so long. After today, we will have 5 more days left of school. I will have 5 more days of teaching here at Drake. 5 more days of daily hallway conversation with the girls I love to share life with. Only 5 more! When I think about it this way, 5 more days seems way to short. I have been complaining to John this week that I am totally stressed out for being solely responsible for packing up our house AND my classroom at the same time. It is very overwhelming when you have been packing for 2 hours and it doesn't appear that you have made any progress-to the contrary, everything is even more of a mess than when I first started. Similarly, it is such a strange feeling to pack up my classroom, knowing that I am not packing to move to another classroom at Drake but my stuff will be moving a lot farther. Right now, my car is so packed full of random tidbits of our life that we have made in 2.5 short years that I can't see the ceiling of my SUV and not even a little out the back. I am traveling to Birmingham once school is out to try to begin settling into our house. We have been talking about this since January and knew it was coming, but that doesn't make it any easier!

I can't think about this yet! You are still supposed to be right down/across the hall next year!! So very, unbelievably sad!
I'm kind of in denial about all this, too. This year has been so idyllic with our wonderful little team. It will be very difficult to let it go. And you're not just leaving the safety of the Language Lions, but moving onward and northward to the Magic City!! How can you stay friend with us country mice when you become a city mouse (again)? You will be dearly missed, B. :(
We are going to miss you dearly!! But you will always have a place in our hearts and on the Panther Team.
I refuse to countdown you leaving!!! I can't believe it is so soon. It feels like you just told us!
This is so depressing and true. I can't wait for the year to be over, but I do not want you to leave. Who am I going to share awkward student poems with? I cannot believe it is already here, like Katie said, I love our little microcosm away from the rest of the world. I am going to miss it so much! Sad day:(
