Biscuits!

Today we headed to Montgomery with the entire 6th grade at Drake to check out a Montgomery Biscuits game. This morning started off nicely...the weather was good, A student saved me by having sunscreen, and the best part was that work today consisted of hanging out with coworkers in the beautiful weather while enjoying a baseball game. We loaded up on the buses-I, along with Mr. Jenkins, braved the boys bus. We get off an exit that I don't remember from last year when we went but I didn't worry about...I figured the bus driver had the directions and maybe we were taking another route. WRONG! After we lost the other buses and drove through a neighborhood that I am sure is only featured on the news for their night-time activity, the bus driver turns to Russ and I and says, "Do you know how to get there?" Are you kidding me? Why would we know how to get there?? Our job is to tame 106 kids...keeping them from singing to the top of their lungs and stick their limbs out the windows...not print off directions. After a few turns, we stopped to ask directions from a police man on the side of the road. The driver carried on so I assumed now she knew where she was going. Again, she looked back at us and said, "Do you think we go left here?" I wanted to be like, well um I don't know...why did we stop and ask for directions if you weren't going to listen! We did end up making it and had a great time. I tried to sunbathe, even though for those who know me well know that I only freckle and burn. When it was time to load the buses again, the bus driver again asked us if we knew how to get home and then added, "All I know is the bus is smoking!?!" Just what you want to hear when you are tired and hot and in Montgomery. We did make it back to Auburn without breaking down. Maybe our bus driver should consider another day job...or at least look into MapQuest next time!

Sarah and I were thinking the same thing about our little "missed turn" adventure...... I just naturally assume that you are the driver so you should know where you are going. That will be something on our list for next year make sure to cover directions with driver before pulling away from the school!!
It was a good day though, HOT, but FUN!!
