Alex: all BOY, insanely adorable, spitfire, wild man, lover of all things ninja turtle and power ranger, busy, independent, never stingy with kisses, water baby, angel love, fiesty, never short on personality, ball of energy, daddy's boy, one of our biggest blessings!
I'm sure the list could go on and on. Alex has blessed us in ways we never knew we needed or wanted. God knew exactly what he was doing when he knitted his little personality together. He is SO different from Will and provides awesome fun and balance to our family. It is unreal to me that he is THREE. That seems so big! When I rock him (or try to get him to sit still long enough), he just spills over my lap. His legs are so long and his feet seem so big.
He has been sharing a room with Will since January and just two weekends ago, we bunked their beds. About 4-5 nights out of 7, he will get up at least once in the middle of the night claiming he's "wursty" or he can't find his "wugey and his pass." He is always up between 4:45 and 5:15...knowing that there is no way I can put him back in bed and he will go back to sleep at that point, and also not wanting to risk waking Will up in that process, I just tap on my pillow and he climbs into bed and snuggles right up against me. I am so tired in that moment, but my heart smiles because that is the only time he seems little to me. Sometimes he plays with my hair, or rubs my back, other times he goes seamlessly back to sleep. It reminds me of that song, "It won't be like this for long..." I feel like we did everything with Will so "by the book." We would have never caved on things like we have with Alex. But I know these days are fleeting and will be gone before we know it.
On his actual birthday, June 1, we celebrated with birthday donuts for breakfast. He loves when we sing to him :)
Will picked out for him a GIANT power ranger and I didn't have any bags big enough to wrap it, so we just had Alex close his eyes and Will brought it in :)
Then we headed to the zoo and took him out to lunch-his pick....Moe's (or as he calls it, "Welcome to Moe's.) We enjoyed a laid back day with our boys, not only was it Alex's big day, but it was also the last weekend we would be a family of four. So hard to believe!
My parents and brother's family came over for dinner. My parents have just returned from a 20 day trip to Ireland and Scotland and they missed the party! I was going to order Alex a birthday cake from Publix and cave to his Power Ranger wishes, but my mom enjoys doing stuff like that and said she would make it. She did a great job and Alex loved it!
Famous "Mac Money" from Uncle Mike!
We tried to make Sunday as special for Alex as we possibly could! We knew that in two short days, his world would be rocked :) Hopefully he handles the transition from baby to BIG brother well!!
