Operation Keep Alex Awake

Alex has been boycotting his afternoon nap for almost a week. When Will is home, this makes for an extremely long day....Alex napping in the morning, trying to entertain Will but keep him quiet, then Will going down for a nap and Alex talking and banging on the wall beside his crib until I go get him....then trying to entertain him, but keep him quiet so Will could nap. It wasn't worth it. Alex starts daycare in 2 weeks (don't even want to think about it!), and at that point he will only be getting an afternoon nap anyways. I figured we should just live up our last 2 weeks of summer. So today, Will stayed home with us and we were on a mission-Operation: Keep Alex awake!!
We started out after breakfast playing in Will's room...the boys LOVE playing in there. Alex loves that there are tubs galore that he can dump out and then move on :)

After looking out the window, Will told me it was a great day to go and feed the ducks! So that is just what we did. This was the perfect plan-it got us out of the house (keeping me from going stir crazy) and kept the TV/iPads off!! We went to Kiki and Pops house and grabbed the golf cart. Park visits and duck feeding are much more fun this way :)

After feeding the ducks we headed to the park. It was HOT. We ended up underneath the slides playing in the rubber because it was shaded :) We did some swinging and sliding and then it was time for snacks! Will has just introduced Alex to veggie sticks and he LOVES them!!

We continued our snacks on the ride back to get in the car...

I thought I might lose Alex at this point to sleep. He had his paci and even though the car ride from my parents house to our house is about 2 minutes, I thought it was inevitable. Will took care of that by complaining very loudly how hot it was and declared that he wanted to play in the hose. PERFECT! Took the boys straight from the car to the backyard and stripped them down. I didn't even bother with swim suits! This was the perfect activity after being so hot and Will thought it was hilarious that he was in the pool in his underwear.

 Alex was drinking water out of the hose like he was a dog :)

Pretty soon it was time for lunch. Alex did great. He ate and then I put on Praise Baby...I was trying to hold him off until noon. Right at 12 I took him into his room with lovey in hand. I bet I wasn't even fully sitting in the glider before he was passed out. Sweet, precious boy!! He didn't once get fussy though and I am loving this new routine!! Gives us so much more freedom in the morning to play and do fun things!!
