Diaper Bag Dilemma

I need advice. We got the Kalencom Laminated diaper bag right before Will was born and have been using it ever since. We have loved this bag. The only problem is it is a bit bulky...well a lot bulky. Especially now that Will does not require everything but the kitchen sink. I can pretty much get away with a small snack container, sippy cup, diapers, wipes, and a few toys to keep him occupied. I don't need this huge bag anymore. He has a little backpack that we use sometimes, but this will be more useful when he goes to MDO or daycare. It has no compartments/pockets. I have been looking at this one for a while.

It is quite the investment. That is why I haven't been able to commit yet. I have heard it is great and have a few friends with it. Recently, I discovered that they made this lovely bag with a "glazed" option-meaning it is wipable. Before, I was worried that the fabric would stain or the threads would pull-but in the wipeable version, this wouldn't happen. I just think it is a very "pretty" and stylish looking diaper bag in a great size. And it would work for a boy or girl, if we are blessed with a girl later....Does anyone have a small diaper bag that they love. I would prefer that it zip on the top, have inside pockets/compartments, be about this size. About half, or a little less than the size of my Kalencom. Thank you for your help!

Since I got my Kalencom, they came out with a smaller version that is half the size of the original! It looks very nice. I just put all the stuff I need for Audrey in a purse now though. I did see that Petunia has a new line of diaper bag/purses that look amazing too! I think I saw them at Lili Pad-- they were pretty pricey. I think if I were you, I'd just invest in a Coach handbag that is big enough to keep his stuff in! LOL! :)

if you're going to spend the money, get yourself a really fabulous big purse. you won't need a diaper bag forever, but coach will last forever. ;)
i find i can get away with putting what i need in my purse, unless we're going to the park, downtown event, tail gate, etc...where i need more stuff for them, then i'll use a big diaper bag. for day to day it's a wipes case, a diaper, and a cereal bar for emergencies.

Love that bag! Obviously, I do not know the first thing about diaper bags but from a fashion perspective, I would use that thing right now :)

Umm...Wal-mart or Target for the small diaper bag and if you're spending the big bucks, I'm with the friend who suggested a large and nice purse for you. (I gave up the idea of a nice, petit purse long ago and bought myself a Vera that works well for the emergency kid stuff and me.) Seriously, our "friend" Dave (Ramsey) just shook his head at you. ;)

I would not get this bag. I have it in the Raspberry color and loved it for a short while. It is VERY large and extremely heavy. I stopped carrying it after a few months. I actually carry a purse now and have a small back pack for Taylor (she is 2) so that she can help carry her own stuff. Or Morris will bring his Diaper Dude along....a very light weight option for men and women to carry. Best of luck finding the right bag!

Obviously, I'm not a mom, so I have no idea about the number of compartments necessary to prevent total chaos, but I would say that if you're going to spend some money, you might as well make it a great bag that you love and will use even without kids in tow. I find great deals at the Coach and Kate Spade outlet all the time, and they have bags with different compartments, zippers, etc.

I am going to also say that I too am looking for a smaller diaper bag. I found one for church but I don't think its going to do the trick. I believe that the Petunia is way too pricey for something you will use for a short period of time (even if you have more children I still don't find it a reasonable option). You would be paying more for the name than the function of the bag. I say your friends suggested getting a coach or a nice handbag that you would carry even without baby in tow is perfect.
