Caddy Is A...

BOY!!! We are so SO excited to announce that we are having a little boy! We both agreed that today was such an amazing day. I have been feeling girl up until Saturday and then I changed my mind to boy. Neither one of us could have cared less what Caddy was, but I knew secretly John would love for a boy to come first! While we were doing the ultrasound, at the very beginning Caddy had his ankles crossed and his legs were mostly together. I immediately assumed it was a girl because I didn't see anything right away. The lady kept doing some measurements and I could see that John was really trying to tell what it was. All of a sudden It's A BOY!!! popped up on the screen and I immediately had tears rolling down my face and John was grinning ear to ear. It was definitely the most incredible feeling and one I know I will never forget. We feel so incredibly blessed by the Lord for this precious miracle!

This is my favorite picture we got from the ultrasound today-his little feet!
We had our parents over at 6:30 for dessert to share our news. We told them not to call beforehand because we would not tell them :) I stole such a fun idea from Shealy's sister, Sarah Martin, and made cupcakes and iced them pink and blue. When everyone was here, we had each parent pick the color that they thought it was.

My mom immediately chose pink. I think her decision kind of swayed my dad because from the beginning he had said boy, but he picked a pink cupcake. John's mom chose blue because both her and my mom both had boys first and on both sides of their family, Stephanie is the only girl out of 11 grandchildren. When she stated those statistics, John's dad chose a pink cupcake because I guess he thought with those odds, it was bound to be a girl.
We then went and put a blue ribbon around Bentley's neck and let him run out to tell everyone that a boy was coming to live in our house come January!

Once they saw the ribbon, everyone started screaming and got really excited. We showed them the DVD of Caddy's ultrasound. It was so neat to show them everything the nurse had shown us. You can even hear the heartbeat on the DVD which is very cool.
So that is our news! We couldn't be happier!! I have not felt Caddy kick yet but John informed me that he thinks the first time we will feel HIM kick will be on Saturday at Tiger Walk...he said that is what Auburn does to people :)

I am so excited for you! Like Holly, I am not quite sure what to do for a boy, but I will try! :) And rather than Turner having a roomie at Auburn, she'll just have someone to take her to football games in the fall! Don't be surprised if Caddy does kick a little this weekend...Turner LOVED Auburn football games and would practically spin in circles when the noise would get loud. Hope to see you soon!!

Congrats Brooke! I know how excited you are that he is healthy and now you can really start planning. I was pregnant during football season and Paige use to go crazy at the games. All the noise and vibrations really got her going. That was the cutest thing you did with the cupcakes. We're praying for you and that precious baby. What a blessing!

Brooke, if he doesn't kick Saturday me, Pops and Dylan will take him/you to Talladega in October and I'll GUARANTEE he'll shudder! Already told Pops he's gotta get to working on a fourth ticket.

We are so excited for ya'll. The cupcakes strike again, I want to do something with our dogs- I mean Bently looked too cute in that ribbon. I want to just put one on one of our beasts so they can wear a precious ribbon like that. Let us know when you feel the little man kick. Love ya'll.

Jack may have to fight with your little man over Turner for football games! hee hee...I'm so excited and can't WAIT to see you Friday...hope you can still make it! I'll offer any wisdom I come across...ha ha. They are all so different...who knows? Luckily, God does!! Jack's dedication is this Sunday, and that makes me smile to show everyone that he is God's little boy first. :)

1. I am so so so so excited that you are having a boy, and honestly felt like John was somehow channeling a future football star in your first child by naming the baby pre-gender "Caddy"!

2. I realize that I am prejudiced, as you are my friend, but that is the cutest ultrasound picture ever! Honestly, if a baby can look cute in amniotic fluid, then there is a bright future ahead for little Vakakes in modeling.

3. Finally, I just want to reiterate how happy I am for you and how I can't wait to some day soon teach the first born how to perform "Cats" and play carpool. There are just some things that must be passed down to the next generation!

Love you!
