Productive

I thought I would share one of my projects that I finally finished a week ago or so. John told me today that this might be the only kid we are having due to my inactive self and the fact that I have turned into a bit of a slob. Little messes around the house have never really bothered me, but then again I have never really had a real house to clean and keep clean. The apartment was so much easier to keep straight because if things weren't in there place, you couldn't move. Dirty dishes stopped bothering me about 2 weeks ago. In fact, it took John and I about 45 minutes to clean the kitchen on Saturday night due to the fact that we had people over Thursday night for dinner and hadn't touched the kitchen since then (but kept on eating and dirtying dishes). I also have seemed to let laundry get WAY behind. I usually pride myself on keeping the laundry basket empty and John's pants ironed. Poor John...the first time I ironed since we moved in (May 26) was last Sunday. I have 4 stacks right now of laundry waiting to go in because the washer and dryer are both full. Not fun...totally true about having no energy during the first trimester. I used to think that was all just a mental thing...this was before I was pregnant!! Today John discovered something that I think was his breaking point. We had eaten chinese for lunch after church and I put our fortune cookies in my purse to save for later. After a long and wonderful nap, John went to retrieve our cookies. In my purse, he also found a used spoon and a peanut butter and jelly sandwich (in a ziploc of course), among my wallet, chapstick, and phone. He was in disbelief. He could not beleive I just toted around a PB&J in my purse. I quickly reminded him that it is imperative that I have food on me at all times. He then quickly reminded me that granola bars would be sufficient. This is when he declared that I had become a slob :) Back to my project-I started this "V" wall in Auburn after I purchased the "V." I must give a shout out to Ashley Gentry who inspired this creation by her own "G" wall in Auburn. This is one of my favorite things about our house. It is on the left wall just as you enter our house in the foyer. It contains various pictures in black and white and in sepia tones of our wedding, favorite family pics, most of our grandparents (I am still working on a few), and Bentley. There is space left for Baby V when he/she arrives as well. Everyone loves taking a look when they enter and I always like having it up because it reminds me of how much I love my little family! If you can find a letter, it is such a great addition to a big, empty wall!

I have a few comments for this post:
1. I, too, have an "A" wall at my house. Not exactly like yours, but I like the idea of expanding mine a bit in the next house.
2. I have found that although I don't feel like I did while I was pregnant, I certainly don't feel like I did before I was pregnant. My energy levels have never quite recovered -- children require limitless energy!
3. I developed some very bad habits in pregnancy (much like the ones you described). And to be honest - some have stuck around and I am afraid they may never leave. There are only so many hours in a day and when you weigh playing with your child against washing or cleaning...washing or cleaning can wait. Always. However, this may turn into guilt after you have the baby - feeling guilty when you do actually take 15 min to try to straighten up while the baby plays alone.

Hope you are doing well! Miss getting to see you!!

Well in that last trimester you are going to hit that nesting phase where nothing can be too clean and everything must be in its place before the baby comes, and you are tempted to wash all the clothes in the house with Dreft. You do have to pick your battles when it comes to dishes and laundry, which stack is higher :-). John as well as Bentley have to realize that little "Caddy" is running the show right now and everyone else just has to learn to adapt :-)

Brooke,
Hi! It's Nina, Tessa's friend. It's good to see you again and see how the Lord has blessed you.

I've enjoyed reading through your blog and catching up. Your witty humor about your husband and pregnancy are refreshing. I pray you'll have e healthy pregnancy(dishes and laundry piles ARE healthy..especially in the first trimester..so don't worry!)
I remember my husband getting fed up with not having clean underwear, so one Saturday he threw all of our dirty clothes in the car and went to the laundry mat and ran like 8 washers at once!! And when he returned...threatened me in a very nice way, not to let the clothes get like that again!!---Kind of like your PB&J/granola bar story.

Anyway....God Bless Your Home!

The wall looks great! So glad to have seen it in person! The house is too cute and did not look slobby one bit! Glad we got to stop by for a few minutes. Kirkley was pooped after playing with Bently and slept the rest of the way -- thank you!

You are too funny! PB&J? In your purse!? Hilarious. Love the wall. :)

May I just say...I am so blessed to have a hubby who does the laundry!?! The rogue PB&J made me laugh out loud and contributed to my goal of finding big funnies today. Cereal bars and soft granola bars are about as dangerous as the sandwich in the purse though...not that I speak from experience or anything... :oD

love the wall - looks great! i'm working on the same kind of thing in our hallway, only without the big letter. also, you might want to keep how crazy you used to think prego ladies were on the down low.... pregnancy is a physical thing, not everything that happens in the duration is mental, no matter what men think!
